Adding on to yesterday’s Post, let’s take this a bit further.
Yesterday we introduced the structure…
¿Te gusta escuchar música? – Do you like to listen to music?
Sí, me gusta escuchar música. – Yes, I like listening to music. or
No, no me gusta escuchar música. – No, I don’t like listening to music.
Today we’ll add on more ways to state your degree of like or dislike for a particular activity.
¿Te gusta viajar? – Do you like traveling?
Sí, me gusta mucho. – Yes, I like it a lot.
¿Te gusta tomar café? – Do you like drinking coffee?
Sí, me gusta un poco. – Yes, I like it a ittle.
¿Te gusta lavar los platos? – Do you like washing dishes?
No me gusta nada. – No, I don’t like it at all.
To the back of your answer add:
mucho
un poco or
nada
Notice how today when we answered, we did not repeat the entire phrase. When some asks…
¿Te gusta viajar? We can simply respond, Sí, me gusta. – Yes, I like it.
For some more variety we can also respond…
Me encanta – I love it
Me fascina – It fascinates me
Me interesa – It interests me
When your friend asks…
¿Te gusta viajar? – Do you like traveling?
You could respond…
Sí, me gusta mucho. – Yes, I like it a lot.
Me encanta. – I love it.
Sí, me fascina. – Yes, it fascinates me.
Sí, me interesa mucho. – Yes, it interests me a lot.

el arte moderno – modern art
la música latina – Latin music
la fotografía – photography
la arquitectura española – Spanish architecture
estudiar la biología – to study biology
estudiar las ciencias – to study sciences
mirar las nubes – watch clouds
cilantro – cilantro
cantar – to sing
bailar – to dance
el teatro – theatre
la ópera italiana – Italian opera
limpiar la casa – clean house
hablar por teléfono – to talk on the phone

Action Steps:
1. Practice asking various questions: ¿Te gusta cantar?, ¿Te gusta el teatro?, etc…
2. Practice answering using variation of like or dislike: Sí, me encanta, Sí, me gusta un poco, etc…
3. Say 3 things you like a lot. Say 2 things you are fascinated by. Say 1 thing you don’t like at all.
Ejemplo:
Me gusta el arte moderno mucho.
Me encanta bailar.
Me interesa la fotografía mucho.
Me gusta limpiar la casa un poco.
Me gusta cilantro un poco
No me gusta el tráfico nada.
