Los gustos – Things we like to do
Talking about things we like to do in life is easy in Spanish! Besides being easy, it’s a great way to build tons of vocabulary fast.

We’ve already seen that words like…
I have – Tengo…una pluma, un cuaderno, 2 hijos
I want – Quiero…un burrito, 2 enchiladas, más café
There is/are – Hay…una salchiconería cerca de aquí, lagos y ríos

…allow us to take just one word and build lots of vocabulary quickly and in context.

Today we’ll add one more to the list. You’ll like this one! It’s super high frequency!  Use this structure socially, in travel and in work Spanish.

¿Qué te gusta hacer? – What do you like to do?

la Pregunta – the question

¿Te gusta… – Do you like…?
…cocinar? – to cook?
…estudiar español? – to study Spanish?
…salir con amigos? – to go out with friends?

la Respuesta – the answer

Sí / No me gusta… – Yes, / No, I (don’t) like…
…cocinar? – to cook?
…estudiar español? – to study Spanish?
…salir con amigos? – to go out with friends?

What other activities can we add to this?

¿Te gusta…
…leer? – to read?
…ecribir? – write?
…escuchar música? – to listen music?
…ir al cine? – to go to the movies?
…mirar la tele? – to watch TV?
…bucear? – to snorkel / scuba dive?
…correr? – to run?
…hacer ejercicio? – to exercise?
…viajar? – to travel?
…trabajar? – work?
…charlar con amigos? – to chat with friends?
…pasar tiempo con familia? – to spend time with family?

We can also combine this with the days of the week to get a little review in.

Repaso:
Los días de la semana

lunes, martes, miércoloes, jueves, viernes, sábado y domingo

Ejemplo:
Los lunes me gusta leer. Los viernes me gusta charlar con amigos. Los domingos no me gusta trabajar.

Note: This is a very sneaky Post. 😉
We got 15 verbs introduced (out of 1,000) without having to say the word “verbs

Action Step: In your notebook, write the activities from above that you like or don’t like to do. Pick any 3 and say the day of the week that you like to do them.
