Notas
1.
arreglar means to arrange-the house, plans, etc… arreglarse is to arrange oneself – in other words, to get ready or fix yourself up.
Body parts, articles of clothing and reflexive verbs
2. Because reflexive verbs indicate something that you do to yourself such as brush your teeth and wash your hair,
Spanish uses the ‘article‘, not the ‘possessive adjective‘ with body parts and articles of clothing.
For example,
Yo me lavo mis manos – yo, me and lavo all refer to ‘I’. Therefore saying ‘mis‘ manos is too redundant.
Instead, say, (Yo) me lavo las manos. – Since I am washing ‘my’ hands, they must be ‘my hands’.
Instead of saying…Ella se cepilla sus dientes, say, Ella se cepilla los dientes.
Since she is brushing her teeth, they must be ‘her teeth’.

Ambos se cepillan el pelo.
Primero Roberto se pone los pantalones y una camisa.
Decide llevar otra camisa. Se quita la primera y se pone la otra.
Luce bien.
María se pone una falda y una blusa. Se pone botas también.
No quiere llevar las botas. Se las quita y se pone unos zapatos negros.
Luce bien.
Llevan media hora arreglándose.
Están listos a salir.
Abren la puerta. Roberto se pone una gorra y salen.

María and Robert are getting ready. They are going to go out with some friends tonight.
María se lava y se seca el pelo.
María is washing and drying her hair.
Roberto se ducha y luego se afeita la cara.
Robert is showering and later he shaves his face.
María se maquilla y se pinta los labios. También se pinta las uñas.
María puts on make-up and puts on lipstick. She also paints her nails.
Roberto se corta las uñas y se cepilla los dientes.
Robert clips his nails and brushes his teeth.
Ambos se cepillan el pelo.
They both brush their hair.
Primero Roberto se pone los pantalones y una camisa.
Decide llevar otra camisa. Se quita la primera y se pone la otra.
