Get your Spanish Notebook and a pen so you can write things down as we go along.
Learning numbers in Spanish from 0-9.
Numbers from 0 to 0?
I already know those! This is too easy!
I can say them with my eyes closed forward and backwards. I can even recite them standing on my head. ; – )
cero, uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez and…diez, nueve, ocho, siete, seis, cinco, cuatro, tres, dos, uno, cero
¡Muy bien!
Now try this. Say these numbers as fast as you can: 9 0 6 3 7 5 10 2 8 4 1 Really good!
Now say these: 3 6 10 8 2 4 6 7 5 1 9 3 0 7 6 5 0 1 4 7 5 8 6 Great job!
Notice:
When we use numbers in real-life situations, they don’t come at us in order!
It’s VERY important to practice your numbers in a random order.
Here’s how to practice:
1.
Cantidad – Quantity
un* libro
una* casa
5 burritos
8 vasos de agua
10 estudiantes
4 niños
2 plumas
7 enchiladas
9 amigos
3 citas
6 perros
*Note: The number one, “uno” changes to “un” or “una” in front of a noun (person, place or thing).
un libro can mean “a” book
una casa can also mean “a” house.
It’s easy to get it out of context if the person is saying a book or one book.
Also, just observe for now that ‘libro’ ends in an “o” so it’s masculine, therefore “un”.
‘Casa’ ends in an “a” so it is feminine and uses “una”
Just an observation for now. You can easily memorize un libro and una casa and leave the grammar for later as we get more experience.
2.
Practice numbes 0-9 with phone numbers
Make a list of 10 phone numbers. They can be made up or real numbers from your contact list.
As if in a real-life conversation with a friend or customer, ask the question:
¿Cuál es su número de teléfono?
Phonetics – stress the capital letters: KWAL ace sue NEW may row they tay LAY foe no
Diálogos:
You: ¿Cuál es su número de teléfono?
Your customer: Es 505-678-0014
Your new friend: ¿Cuál es tu número de teléfono?
You: Mi número es 719 – 802 – 9637
Pasos a Seguir – Action Steps:
Have fun with numbers 0 – 9. Listen to Spanish radio and T.V to observe them saying phone numbers.
