1. Repaso
An affirmative, tú form command uses the Ud. conjugation of a verb. This includes stem-changing verbs (e-ie, o-ue, e-i)
Ejemplos:
Piensa verde – Think green (pensar – e-ie)
Duerme bien – Sleep well (dormir – o-ue)
Apaga la luz – Turn off the light (apagar)
Práctica:
recordar – Remember.
llevar -Bring a jacket.
vivir – Live well.
empezar – Start now.
pedir – Order the tacos.
Respuestas: Recuerda. Lleva una chaqueta. Vive bien. Empieza ahora. Pide los tacos.
2. Los mandatos negativos – informal
In the photos today we see two examples of negative informal commands:
A dog shelter: No compres, Adopta
No escondas tu talento
Analisis:
To make a negative command in the tú form,
-ar verbs use an -er ending and
-er/-ir verbs use an -ar ending...just like in the subjunctive
Unlike the ‘affirmative‘ commands we studied yesterday, a negative command does use the ‘tú‘ for of the conjugation.
Comprar /adoptar – No compres, adopta – Comprar is a negative command, adoptar is affirmative.
Esconder – No escondas tu talento – a negative command
Práctica – Use the following verbs and translation to create negative informal commands
1. firmar – Don’t sign your name.
2. servir – Don’t serve meat.
3. cerrar – Don’t close the window.
4. pintar – Don’t paint the garage.
5. comer – Don’t eat this.
6. mirar – Don’t look/watch.
7. creer – Don’t believe it.
8. usar – Don’t use this pen.
9. nadar – Don’t swim for 3 days.
10. comprar – Don’t buy lettuce.
